BLOMGREN FAMILY HISTORY

We are a family-owned business that was started by Bill Blomgren and began as a motorcycle parts and accessories company from his garage; venturing into demolition and grading in the late 1970’s; and in 1985, were awarded an Army Corps of Engineers contract for the restoration of a major dam in Los Angeles Co. – Hansen Dam – to its original capacity.  After a huge trash and debris clearance, our sand and gravel operation was begun there.  This proved to be a much acclaimed 15-year project generating funds for the Army Corps, and quite lucrative for our Channel & Basin Reclamation company.

We employed over 130 people for much of that time and acquired another sand and gravel operation in Indio, CA.

After the project for the dam terminated, the company relocated and constructed another processing plant in Lebec, CA, under management and eventual ownership of son, David Blomgren.  The Northridge Earthquake in 1994, generated a great deal of work for his company processing recyclable materials from Cal Trans due to retrofitting of the freeway bridges and sections of roadways destroyed by the quake.  A new portable crushing plant was purchased to handle the magnitude of the work.  David’s family has become an integral part of the Lebec/Frazier Park community and is currently into commercial real estate development and investments.

In the late 1990’s thru early 2000’s, Bill got to live his dream of being a top fuel drag racing team owner in NHRA.  Daughter, Elena, was his partner, vice- president and general manager of our Team Geronimo.   Bill developed California Drag Racing School with the team members to enjoy on the off season.  Elena was vice-president and general manager of CDRS. “Dad” had great fun, enjoyed the competition, challenges of working with crew chiefs, and made many friends along the way. Elena has since been  involved in various real estate projects and enjoying living in Mammoth Lakes, CA. 

In the midst of all these activities and work venues, Blomgrens purchased a motel on Flathead Lake, MT in 1989, having fallen in love with the area while traveling through.

In 2004, Blomgrens purchased an RV park in Benson, AZ, which had been left in disrepair due to a foreclosure.  The work to develop it into what you see now was a tremendous undertaking.  New engineering and surveying was done, new plat plans drawn up and a whole reconfiguration for approval submitted to the City of Benson and Cochise County.

Phase II was done, all new utilities in that section were installed = city water & sewer, and the completion of our pool/spa & lovely clubhouse was done in 2013.
